Former President Bhandari Highlights Nepal-China Ties at Global Civilisation Dialogue in China

KATHMANDU: Former President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari praised the strong Nepal-China relationship, calling it a milestone in transforming landlocked Nepal into a land-linked nation.

Speaking at the Fourth Dialogue on Exchanges and Mutual Learning Among Civilizations in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, Bhandari highlighted Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision of a “community with a shared future” as a foundation for deepening the Nepal-China strategic partnership.

She recalled President Xi’s 2019 visit to Nepal and her own participation in the Belt and Road Forum in China the same year, describing both as turning points in bilateral cooperation.

Bhandari also voiced support for China’s Global Civilization Initiative, emphasizing the importance of cultural understanding, peaceful coexistence, and collaboration in tackling global challenges.

She concluded her speech by extending greetings from Nepal, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, to all participants and organizers of the event.
