Kathmandu: BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey met with Masato Kanda, President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), during his visit to Manila from 6–8 November 2025.
Secretary General Pandey highlighted more than two decades of partnership between BIMSTEC and ADB, including support for key initiatives such as the BIMSTEC Master Plan for Transport Connectivity, BIMSTEC Grid Interconnection Master Plan, and the BIMSTEC Transport Infrastructure and Logistics Study, along with several sectoral capacity-building programmes.
President Kanda reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to deepening cooperation and exploring new areas of collaboration with BIMSTEC.
During the visit, the Secretary General also met with ADB Vice Presidents Yingming Yang and Fatima Yasmin, who expressed readiness to further strengthen ADB’s engagement with BIMSTEC.
Secretary General Pandey emphasized the need to scale up technical assistance and consider project-based support to advance regional connectivity and integration across the BIMSTEC region.
