Boosting Nepali Handicrafts through Diplomacy

Kathmandu, June 9: Ambassador Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, President of the Ambassadors Club and the International Relations and Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD), welcomed Mr. Rabindra Shakya, President of Hastakala Mahasangh, for a courtesy visit. Mr. Uttam Prasad Devkota, Director General of the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN), also participated in the meeting.

The discussion focused on promoting Nepal’s rich handicraft industry through economic diplomacy. Both sides exchanged views on expanding international market access, enhancing global recognition of Nepali artisans, and leveraging diplomacy to support the sustainable growth of the sector.

Mr. Shakya expressed his appreciation for the mission and vision of the IRGDD and the Ambassadors Club. He highlighted that with over 4,000 members and 1,700 active artisans, organizations like FHAN stand to benefit greatly from collaboration with such not-for-profit platforms. He conveyed the Federation’s readiness to work closely with IRGDD and the Ambassadors Club to elevate Nepal’s handcrafted heritage on the global stage.
