British Embassy Kathmandu Flies England Flag to Celebrate Lionesses’ Victory

Kathmandu: In a rare departure from protocol, the British Embassy in Kathmandu flew the national flag of England instead of the United Kingdom flag to celebrate England’s victory at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025.

The Lionesses made history by becoming the first senior England football team to win a major trophy on foreign soil and the first to win back-to-back titles. They clinched the championship after a dramatic penalty shootout win over Spain in Basel.

The Embassy congratulated the team, saying, “Congratulations to the Lionesses for bringing it home.”
