Chairperson Dahal addresses the 151st Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva

Kathmandu: Chairperson of the National Assembly of Nepal and the leader of Nepali delegation, Narayan Prasad Dahal, addressed the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva International Convention Center on October 20.
Speaking on the theme of Upholding Humanitarian Norms and Supporting Humanitarian Action in Times of Crisis, Chairperson Dahal emphasized the role of the parliaments as guardian to protect and promote humanitarian values during crises. He reiterated Nepal’s contribution to the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and humanitarian norms.

Dahal shared the developments on recent Generation Z movement which had a call for good governance and anti-corruption at the core. Expressing the tribute to Gen-Z martyrs, he informed about the government’s commitment to holding elections for the House of Representatives on 5 March 2026. He appealed to the international community for the necessary support to the elections and to the reconstruction of the infrastructure damaged during the protests.
Chairperson Dahal held a bilateral meeting with the Head of Delegation of Pakistan. He is scheduled to meet Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the IPU, and Heads of Delegation of various friendly countries on the sidelines of the 151st IPU Assembly.
Dahal visited the Permanent Mission of Nepal to United Nations and took stock of the priorities, activities and engagements of Nepal in Geneva. The other members of the Nepali Delegation included Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami and Madan Kumar Shah, both the Members of the National Assembly.
