Chief Justice of India Gavai Visits Nepal to Address India-Nepal Judicial Dialogue

Kathmandu: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai is on an official visit to Nepal from September 4–7, 2025, at the invitation of Chief Justice of Nepal, Prakash Man Singh Raut.

During his visit, CJI Gavai addressed members of Nepal’s judicial and legal community at the India–Nepal Judicial Dialogue, focusing on the evolving role of the judiciary, recent jurisprudence, and judicial sector reforms.

The visit also marked a significant step in strengthening judicial ties between the two neighbors. In April 2025, the Supreme Courts of India and Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation. As part of this initiative, the first meeting of the Joint Working Group formed between the two apex courts was held during CJI Gavai’s stay in Nepal.
