Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced that Chinese company Chengdu Jian Food has received approval to establish a buffalo meat processing facility in Nepal.
In a social media post, PM Oli shared that the company, headquartered in China’s Sichuan Province, has been granted permission by Nepal’s Department of Industry to invest Rs 20 billion in setting up the plant in Marin Rural Municipality-4, Sindhuli.
“This approval follows the agreement made during my visit to China last December,” he stated. “The facility will have the capacity to produce 200,000 metric tons of meat and 55,000 metric tons of by-products each year, contributing significantly to export growth and employment.”
According to PM Oli, the plant is expected to create 5,156 jobs and export meat products worth around Rs 150 billion annually to China.
