Kathmandu: Two Y-20 large transport aircraft of the PLA Air Force of China carrying China-aid emergency relief supplies arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on August 30. Four Chinese tunnel rescue experts, along with rescue equipment, arrived on board.
H.E. Zhang Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal; Hon. Mahabir Pun, Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation of Nepal, Hon. Dharma KC, member of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, attended the handover ceremony for relief supplies, and welcomed the Chinese rescue experts.
The two transport aircraft took off from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and arrived in Kathmandu after a flight of about three hours. They carried 13,200 items of emergency relief supplies, including tents, blankets, sleeping bags, hard tack and first-aid kits, with a total weight of 50 tonnes.
