Kathmandu: The Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou hosted the Trade and Investment Promotion Program at The Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou, under the theme “Bridging Himalayas & Pearl River: Unlocking Nepal-China Trade & Investment Synerigies”. The event brought together senior officials, business leaders, and entrepreneurs from both countries to explore Nepal’s vast potential in hydropower, tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, and digital economy.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Bharat Khanal, Consul General of Nepal in Guangzhou. He highlighted the importance of this event in converting the longstanding friendly relations between Nepal and China into concrete economic outcomes, especially with the vibrant business ecosystem of the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Guangzhou Committee, echoed the sentiment, highlighting Guangdong’s manufacturing strength and Nepal’s untapped market potential. He reaffirmed CCPIT’s commitment to facilitating two-way trade and investment flows.
The centerpiece of the evening was a keynote presentation by Manoj Paudel, Chairman of the Investment and International Affairs Forum at the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FNCCI). His keynote presentation offered Chinese businesses practical insights into Nepal’s investment climate, policy incentives, priority sectors, and emerging opportunities for bilateral collaboration. Saroj Bhattarai, Consul, elaborated on the various facilitative roles played by the Consulate General in supporting trade promotion, investment facilitation, and resolving business-related matters for Nepali and Chinese enterprises.
The program also featured a vibrant promotional video showcasing Nepal’s breathtaking natural landscapes, rice cultural heritage, and world-famous tourist destinations such as the Himalayas, Mount Everest, and ancient heritage sites. The B2B matchmaking session offered a practical platform for Chinese businesses to directly engage with Nepali counterparts, facilitating potential partnerships, and investment discussions. The evening concluded with a networking session that fostered stronger personal and professional relationships.
