Kathmandu: The Department of Passports has announced that it will now issue passports within two working days after receiving 396,000 new passport booklets.
With the fresh supply, the department said it is operating at full capacity and will personalize and distribute passports to applicants from district and area administration offices, as well as Nepali missions abroad. Applicants who submitted their applications by 1 December will receive their passports by 30 December, while remaining applications will be processed gradually.
The department clarified that passport distribution will now remain smooth during the interim period, as the government has decided to procure a total of 700,000 passport booklets to meet demand.
