Diplomatic Academy Nepal(DAN) And Brussels Diplomatic Academy (BDA) Sign MoU To Elevate Global Diplomatic Education

Kathmandu: In a major step toward expanding international academic cooperation and globalized professional development, the Diplomatic Academy Nepal (DAN) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Brussels Diplomatic Academy (BDA) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium.

The strategic agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for cooperation in diplomatic education, executive professional training, academic exchange, and joint research. By connecting the unique geopolitical vantage point of South Asia with the institutional expertise of Brussel, the partnership aims to equip future diplomats, policymakers, corporate leaders, and international affairs professionals with the advanced skills required to navigate a fragmenting global landscape.

Under this agreement, both institutions will combine their strengths to design and deliver cutting-edge educational initiatives. The collaboration will explore joint training programs and short courses covering diplomacy, international relations, foreign policy, international law, global governance, security, economic diplomacy, ICT diplomacy, leadership, negotiation, and other contemporary global affairs issues. It will also introduce high-level executive education and capacity-building workshops designed for aspiring diplomats, government officials, negotiators, experts, and private sector leaders, alongside faculty and expert exchanges to cultivate shared policy insights.

The partnership bridges two distinctive institutional profiles. DAN, recognized for its innovative approach where policy, technology, and diplomacy converge, provides an immersive framework for international relations within South Asia. The BDA, highly regarded for its unique educational methodology where “diplomacy and business meet,” brings decades of integration with European institutions, economic diplomacy networks, and international trade bodies.

A central component of this institutional tie-up is the immediate value it delivers to international relations professionals, civil servants, and global corporate strategists in Nepal. Through this network, participants in DAN’s domestic programs will benefit from unparalleled international exposure, lectures from world-class practitioners, and structural insights from the heart of the European Union.

This partnership directly enhances DAN’s ecosystem of learning. The academy’s ongoing and upcoming professional development calendar, featuring specialized diplomatic training modules, public policy seminars, short certificate courses, and executive leadership workshops, will incorporate these newly institutionalized global benchmarks. The integration allows local professionals to build vital international networks without leaving the region, while progressively preparing them to compete and negotiate on the global stage.
