Kathmandu: Following the demise of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia, a large number of Heads of Mission from various countries and international organizations signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu.
Over the past two days, Carlos Alberto Michaelson den Hartog, the Ambassador of Brazil, who is also the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Thant Sin, the Ambassador of Myanmar, and Hanaa Singer-Hamdy, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal, along with the Chargé d’Affaires of China, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Norway, visited the Embassy to pay their respects. Diplomats from the United States, United Arab Emirates, Australia, France and Qatar also signed the condolence book.

During their visits, the dignitaries expressed profound sadness and recalled the exemplary leadership and contribution of Begum Khaleda Zia.
Nepali eminent politicians, former ministers, business leaders, members of think tanks and civil society representatives also paid tribute by signing the condolence book. They thanked the Embassy for making arrangements to express condolences.

The Bangladesh Embassy observed the period of state mourning by keeping the national flag at half-mast, opening the condolence book, and organizing special prayers at a local mosque.
