Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi has confirmed the rescue of 35 Nepali youths who were trafficked to Uttarakhand, India, under the false promise of attractive employment opportunities.
According to a statement issued by the embassy, the victims were lured from various districts of Nepal and transported illegally to India, where they were reportedly confined and subjected to various forms of exploitation in the name of training and job placement. The embassy was alerted to the incident through Kin India, a social organization, and worked in coordination with the Uttarakhand Police to rescue the victims on June 19, 2025.
The embassy said some individuals involved in the trafficking operation have been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to uncover other locations where Nepali youths might have been similarly detained. Repatriation processes have been initiated, and the rescued individuals will be sent back to Nepal upon completion of necessary procedures.
