Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba addressed the “Nutrition and Development in Vulnerable States” panel at the 44th Session of the FAO Conference in Rome on June 29. She highlighted Nepal’s progress in diversifying agricultural production, reducing food loss, and promoting healthy diets.
She further acknowledged ongoing challenges such as outward migration and climate change, but emphasized Nepal’s potential to contribute meaningfully to global nutrition and sustainability goals. Minister Dr. Rana called for greater international collaboration, investment, and technical support to harness this potential.
Writing on her Facebook, she posted, “Given its vast agricultural potential, Nepal can contribute meaningfully to the global community’s shared goals of improved nutrition and sustainable development. To this end, I called for enhanced collaboration, investment, and technical transfers.”
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Conference is happening in Rome, Italy, from June 28 to July 4. Foreign Minister Dr. Rana is scheduled to address other high-level events at the conference.
