Kathmandu: The Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations has congratulated Dr. Suresh Raj Sharma on his re-election to the UN Independent Audit Advisory Committee (IAAC) for a three-year term beginning in January 2026.
In a statement on social media, the Mission extended its warmest congratulations, wishing Dr. Sharma “another term marked by even greater achievements, continued leadership and meaningful contributions.”
Dr. Sharma is widely recognized as an expert in financial management, general management, strategic management, and oversight within the non-profit sector, particularly across United Nations system organizations.
He holds a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. He has been a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) since 1977 and previously completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Commerce from Nepal Commerce College and Tribhuvan University.
Dr. Sharma served the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for 24 years in various leadership positions. His roles included WFP Representative and Country Director in Sri Lanka and several key positions at the organization’s headquarters in Rome, including Director of the Budget Division, Director of the Finance Division, Director of Change Management, Director of Ethics, and finally, Inspector General and Director of the Oversight Office.
