Kathmandu: A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia which has killed at least 111 people and damaged numerous buildings. The government of Columbia has declared a state of emergency in the affected areas following the earthquake.
According to the Colombian Geological Service, the earthquake struck at 7:34 am local time on August 10, with its epicenter near San José del Palmar in Chocó province. The earthquake occurred at a depth of around 103 kilometres.
Meanwhile, the government of Nepal has expressed condolences over tragic loss of lives and property caused by powerful earthquakes. Nepal has extended sincere condolences to the bereaved families and expressed sympathies to the Government and people of Colombia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) prayed for swift rescue of those missing and speedy recovery of injured. The Government and people of Nepal stand in solidarity with the Government and people of Colombia to overcome this difficult situation, Nepal’s Foreign Ministry said.
