Kathmandu: H.E. Lok Bahadur Thapa, UN ECOSOC President, addressed the launch of the 2026 State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) Report at the HLPF 2026.
He noted, “when families cannot afford healthy food, the challenge is no longer only about nutrition. It is about poverty. It is about inequality. It is about health, education and opportunity.”
He further stated, “We must now translate analysis into concrete action to ensure that everyone can afford a healthy diet. Access to healthy food is fundamental to human dignity and essential to delivering on the promise to leave no one behind.”
