Kathmandu: Lok Bahadur Thapa, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) held a meeting with Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, to discuss global digital cooperation and connectivity.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the importance of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in promoting sustainable development, peace, and security. They also discussed upcoming global forums, including the STI Forum, HLPF, and AI for Good.
The discussion emphasized the urgent need to bridge digital and artificial intelligence divides, particularly in developing countries. Key solutions included strengthening digital infrastructure, increasing investment, enhancing capacity building, promoting digital inclusion, and supporting youth entrepreneurship.
