Kathmandu: The President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Lok Bahadur Thapa, met with Alexander De Croo, the new Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on January 15.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on ECOSOC’s key role in 2026, follow-up to major intergovernmental processes, the UN80 initiative, the General Assembly review of ECOSOC, and the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).
Moreover, the discussion also highlighted UNDP’s strong engagement across ECOSOC meetings, as well as its crucial role in development and capacity building for Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), among others.
