Kathmandu: UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) President Lok Bahadur Thapa met with Dr. Najat Maalla M’jid, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children, to discuss coordinated efforts to end violence against children, including in the digital space.
During the meeting, the ECOSOC President highlighted the priorities of his presidency and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) scheduled for in-depth review at the 2026 ECOSOC High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July. He emphasized that these priorities and SDG reviews would strengthen collective commitments to prevent and address violence against children.
The meeting also underscored the importance of the HLPF and Voluntary National Reviews as key mechanisms to track progress and ensure necessary follow-up actions.
