Kathmandu: Lok Bahadur Thapa, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, met with Ligia Noronha, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Environment Programme New York Office, to discuss cooperation on environmental protection and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Thapa stressed that protecting the environment is key to long-term progress and a major priority of his ECOSOC presidency. Both sides also discussed using the upcoming High-Level Political Forum in July to strengthen partnerships and cooperation on sustainability.
