Kathmandu: The President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Lok Bahadur Thapa, along with members of the ECOSOC Bureau, met UN Secretary-General António Guterres to discuss the Council’s ongoing work, its upcoming 80th anniversary, and its pivotal role in strengthening multilateralism.
During the meeting, discussions focused on ECOSOC’s contributions to advancing follow-up and implementation of outcomes from major United Nations summits and conferences. The participants also reaffirmed the Council’s central role in coordinating international efforts on economic, social and sustainable development issues.
