Kathmandu: UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) President Lok Bahadur Thapa met with Michelle Gyles-McDonnough, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNITAR, on March 25.
They discussed the important role of UNITAR in enhancing capacity-building and training opportunities in support of ECOSOC priorities and related intergovernmental processes. They also exchanged their views on the UN80 initiative and UNITAR’s contribution to strengthening skills and knowledge across the UN system, while underlining the importance of further strengthening its capacity and operational effectiveness to deliver better on its mandates.
