Kathmandu: The President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Lok Bahadur Thapa, welcomed Laura Dupuy Lasserre, the new Chair of the Group of 77 and China and the Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the UN, on January 22.
During their meeting, discussions focused on upcoming ECOSOC meetings and forums, the General Assembly review of ECOSOC and the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), priorities under the current ECOSOC presidency, the importance of implementing the Sevilla commitments, and strengthening South–South cooperation, among other issues.
