Embassy of Nepal Hosts An Event To Initiate A Welfare Project By China-Nepal Culture Exchange Centre

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, in collaboration with China-Nepal Exchange Center, hosted an event entitled “Lumbini Prayer and Merit Garden: Public Welfare Project Launching Ceremony”, on March 6. This event was to inaugurate a welfare project to be built by China-Nepal Culture Exchange Centre that includes a meditation hall, a museum and a garden in the premises of Lumbini Buddhist University.

Charge d’affaires Roshan Khanal highlighted the age-old relationship between Nepal and China rooted in cultural affinity, geographical proximity, and people to people contacts in her welcome remarks. She underscored the importance of the Buddhist heritages that have strengthened the spiritual and cultural connection between the two countries and appreciated the said Welfare Project.

In a video message, the Vice-Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University, Prof. Dr. Subarna Lal Bajracharya, emphasized the importance of global peace, intercultural friendship and shared prosperity in light of ongoing conflicts around the world. The Chairman and Founder of the China-Nepal Culture Exchange Center, Li Bo, informed about the project that would be commenced in March this and be completed in three years. The project would be a milestone in expanding socio-cultural cooperation and people-to-people relations between Nepal and China.

The programme also inaugurated the project “10,00 People Travel to Nepal” by Beijing Zhentu Attain Happy International Travel Service, which will send 10,000 Chinese people to Nepal via chartered flights.

The programme was attended by approximately 100 participants, including representatives from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, China Association of Travel Services, Ministry of Culture, Tourism of China, tour agencies and companies, as well as media representatives.
