Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi Organizes Discussion on the Role of Non-Resident Nepalis in Nation Building

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi organized a discussion and interaction program on the theme “Contribution and Role of Non-Resident Nepalis in Nation Building.”

The program focused on exploring ways the Nepali community in the UAE can contribute to reconstruction, economic revival, and rehabilitation of public and government infrastructure damaged during the protests in Nepal on September 8 and 9.

Addressing the program, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, Ambassador of Nepal to the UAE, informed participants that the Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund has been established as per the decision of the Government of Nepal to mobilize resources for rebuilding damaged infrastructure. He called upon Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) to contribute actively to this national reconstruction campaign.

Ambassador Chhetri also highlighted the Government’s initiative to establish a Brain Gain Center (BGC) to harness the knowledge and expertise of Nepalis living abroad in Nepal’s development process. He encouraged participants to share their professional details through a QR Code system introduced by the Embassy.

Representatives of the Nepali community welcomed the government’s appeal and expressed their commitment to supporting the reconstruction efforts, emphasizing the importance of transparency in fund management. They also discussed the possibility of collectively rebuilding a damaged public structure as a contribution from the Nepali community in the UAE.

Participants commended the Embassy’s service delivery and suggested conducting awareness programs to promote compliance with UAE laws among Nepali workers. They also urged the Embassy to address the delays in passport processing faced by Nepalis in recent months.

The event was attended by representatives from the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA-UAE), Nepal Association UAE, Nepali Society UAE, Indigenous Peoples Federation UAE, as well as representatives from various social, professional, and business organizations. Around 60 participants, including doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, tourism professionals, media persons, and social workers, took part in the interaction.

The interactive session was conducted by Dipendra Poudel, Labor Counselor at the Embassy, who presented an overview of the Embassy’s recent initiatives in service delivery and community engagement.
