Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Cairo, in collaboration with the Jeevan Vigyan Foundation, Nepal, organized a meditation session at Al-Horreya Park in Zamalek to mark World Meditation Day in Cairo on January 16. The event was held under the theme “Meditation: One With Self, One With Nature.”
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt, Sushil Kumar Lamsal, said that Nepal was among the core group of six countries that initiated the United Nations resolution declaring December 21 as World Meditation Day, which was unanimously adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2024. Highlighting Nepal’s ancient heritage as a land of yoga and meditation, he noted that the wisdom of ancestors continues to guide and shape the everyday lives of Nepali people.

The Ambassador underlined the growing challenges arising from multiple global crises and the unpredictable impacts of rapid technological change. He emphasized that, in such times, humanity needs an inner anchor to understand and cope with these transformations, adding that introspection and self-awareness offer pathways to peace, harmony, and healing.
The meditation session was led by Santosh Khadka, an instructor from the Jeevan Vigyan Foundation, who guided participants through self-awakening meditation practices focused on mindful breathing, deep relaxation, calmness, and inner peace.
On the occasion, Deputy Chief of Mission Indira Gohiwar Aryal made a presentation on Nepal as a destination for health and wellness tourism. Second Secretary Ritesh Shah delivered a vote of thanks, while Third Secretary Gajendra Rai conducted the program.
The event was attended by ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, members of the Nepali community, representatives from business and civil society, and media personnel from Egypt.
