EU Reaffirms Support for Nepal’s Clean Energy Transition at National Forum

Kathmandu: The European Union participated in the National Forum on Clean Energy in Action: Decarbonizing Nepal’s Economy, organized by the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) to mark International Clean Energy Day 2026.

Speaking at the opening session, EU Ambassador to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, reaffirmed the EU’s strong commitment as a development partner to support Nepal’s clean energy transition, decarbonisation efforts, and inclusive green growth. She highlighted that the EU’s cooperation aligns closely with Nepal’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and its long-term net-zero emission goals.
The forum was held with the participation of Hon. Anil Kumar Sinha, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, as the Chief Guest, along with senior government officials and stakeholders. It served as a key platform for policy dialogue, exploring investment opportunities, and fostering partnerships aimed at scaling up clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives across the country.
Through a Team Europe approach, the EU continues to support AEPC in collaboration with partners including GIZ Nepal, KfW, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and others. The partnership focuses on mobilizing both public and private finance to accelerate the deployment of clean energy solutions throughout Nepal.
