Kathmandu: Experts and stakeholders have called on investors to increase investment in hydropower, tourism, and information technology sectors, stating that the investment climate in Nepal has become more favorable.
Speaking at the 12th Global Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in Kathmandu, participants highlighted the potential for greater investment from the Nepali diaspora if policy stability, investor confidence, and institutional mechanisms are strengthened.
Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board Nepal Sushil Gyawali said collaboration among the government, NRNAs and the private sector is essential to build confidence for investment in Nepal. He added that the board remains committed to facilitating investment and urged all stakeholders to work together to strengthen investor confidence.
Executive Director of the Nepal Rastra Bank Ram Sharan Kharel said the time has come to better connect Nepali migrant workers with the country’s sustainable economic development.
Similarly, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chandra Prasad Dhakal said the private sector is ready to attract investment from the Nepali diaspora, especially with policy reforms and improved political stability.
Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi also emphasized the importance of promoting cultural tourism to connect second-generation Nepalis living abroad with their roots and communities in Nepal.
