Kathmandu: FAO Nepal has inaugurated the contact office in Koshi Province, Biratnagar on April 6. The inauguration of the contact office has been done to further strengthen its operations at the province level.
Bhim Parajuli, Minister of Tourism, Forest and Environment of Koshi Province, and Ken Shimizu, FAO representative for Bhutan and Nepal, jointly inaugurated the liaison office.
The organization stated that this initiative is an important step towards the promotion of a farmer-friendly and sustainable agriculture-food system, strengthening cooperation with the province and local governments. Along with the establishment of a Contact Office, it is believed to help the development of climate-sensitive, inclusive and flexible agricultural systems by keeping priorities in Koshi province at the center and make access and cooperation with farmers, local body and community more comfortable.
