FAO Nepal Tags 4,000 Pangasius Fingerlings to Boost Sustainable Aquaculture

Kathmandu: FAO Nepal has successfully PIT-tagged 4,000 pangasius fingerlings imported from Thailand as part of efforts to improve tracking, broodstock selection and long-term sustainability in Nepal’s aquaculture sector.

After a period of acclimatization and tagging, the fish will be closely monitored. The previously tagged batches will then be distributed to local hatcheries and farmers, where they will grow into high-quality parent stock.

According to FAO Nepal, the initiative aims to strengthen reliable and sustainable pangasius production by ensuring better genetic management and traceability in the value chain.
