Kathmandu: The Ambassador of Finland to Nepal, Petri Puhakka, is set to hand over his role and responsibilities to 17-year-old Ramila from Sindhuli for one day on October 29 as part of Plan International Nepal’s Girl Takeover campaign.
Ramila is a young deaf student and campaigner who has been advocating for the voices of girls with disabilities through her leadership and calling for action to end child marriage and eliminate gender-based violence.
“The future of Nepal’s children depends on the choices we make today. Ending child marriage is essential to ensure that every child can grow in safety, learn without fear and thrive without limits,” said Ambassador Puhakka.
Highlighting the campaign’s message, the Embassy of Finland in Nepal stated, “This year’s theme, End Child Marriage, underscores the urgent need to protect girls’ rights and ensure they have the freedom to shape their own futures.” The embassy further added in a social media post, “The #GirlsTakeover 2025 celebrates how every girl, when supported and included, can lead, decide, and inspire change.”
