Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, attended as an observer the Signing Ceremony of the Convention on the Establishment of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed), held in the Hong Kong SAR and hosted by the People’s Republic of China.
The convention, signed by 32 countries, aims to promote conflict resolution through mediation in line with the UN Charter, and serves as a complementary mechanism to existing international dispute settlement frameworks.
Dr. Deuba participated in the event at the invitation of Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Chinese Foreign Minister. She led a delegation including senior officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong.
Minister Deuba is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on May 31.
