Kathmandu: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal received a telephone call this evening from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
During the conversation, Sheikh Abdullah extended hearty congratulations to Minister Khanal, who expressed sincere appreciation for the warm message. The two leaders also exchanged views on the evolving situation in West Asia.
Minister Khanal conveyed Nepal’s solidarity with the UAE and strongly condemned attacks on its sovereign territory, including those targeting civilians and key infrastructure such as energy facilities, ports and airports. He also referred to the tragic death of a young Nepali citizen and injuries sustained by 24 other Nepali nationals in the incidents.
Emphasising that war can never be an alternative to peace, Minister Khanal underscored that lasting peace can only be achieved through diplomacy and dialogue. He also sought continued support and protection for the Nepali community in the UAE in the context of the conflict.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed appreciation to the Government of Nepal and Minister Khanal for their solidarity during the difficult time and reaffirmed the UAE Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, including Nepali nationals.
