Kathmandu: Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai held a telephone conversation today with Eden Bar Tal, Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
During the call, Bar Tal officially confirmed, with deep regret, the tragic death of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student, while in captivity of Hamas. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and to the Government and people of Nepal, and assured that the Government of Israel will make all necessary arrangements for the repatriation of Joshi’s remains to Nepal.
Foreign Secretary Rai expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Israel for their continued efforts to ensure the safety of hostages. He said the Embassy of Nepal in Tel Aviv has been instructed to coordinate with Israeli authorities for the repatriation process.
Both sides expressed hope that the positive developments under the Middle East Peace Plan would contribute to lasting peace and stability, and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the friendly relations between Nepal and Israel.
