Kathmandu: Udo Eugen Volz, Ambassador of Germany to Nepal, recently visited Thapathali Campus, an engineering campus affiliated with Tribhuvan University.
The campus was originally established in the 1960s as a vocational training centre with German support and later developed into one of Nepal’s leading engineering institutions. The training centre was jointly inaugurated in 1967 by Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah and German President Heinrich Lübke during Lübke’s state visit to Nepal.
During the visit, the campus chief presented Ambassador Volz with a historic photograph from the 1967 inauguration ceremony. The ambassador also toured workshops where original German machinery, still in working condition, is preserved.
The visit highlighted long-standing Nepal–Germany cooperation in technical education and engineering training.
