ICIMOD and UK Organizes the HKH Investment Conference 2026

Kathmandu: Organized by ICIMOD and backed by the UK’s flagship Climate Action for a Resilient Asia (CARA) programme, the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) Investment Conference 2026 brought together investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and development partners to connect climate solutions to the capital they need. This was a significant step towards building a climate-resilient future for the planet’s vital Third Pole.

Rob Fenn, Ambassador of UK to Nepal, set the scene as the HKH is warming at nearly twice the global average, placing water security, livelihoods, and vulnerable communities at increasing risk for nearly 2 billion people. He emphasized the need to unlock large scale climate finance, integrate mountain specific risks into investment decisions, promote nature-based solutions and use public funding to de-risk and crowd in private capital.

The UK reaffirmed its commitment to working with ICIMOD and regional partners—moving from donor to investor—to help build resilient economies, scale nature-based solutions, and support inclusive, green enterprises across the HKH region.
