Kathmandu: The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New York to boost collaboration in agricultural research, nutrition, and policy development.
The signing ceremony was attended by SAARC Secretary General Md. Golam Sarwar as the Guest of Honour, along with IFPRI Director General Dr. Johan Swinnen as the Special Guest. Senior delegates from IFPRI and SAC also joined the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the SAARC Secretary General said the MoU would help strengthen regional cooperation, enhance technology development, and ensure its effective use in agriculture. The IFPRI Director General highlighted the importance of joint efforts in knowledge generation, agricultural trade, policy innovation, and capacity building.
The event concluded with a joint commitment to work together for a food-secure, resilient, and prosperous South Asia.
