Kathmandu: International Labour Organization- ILO Nepal welcomed a new batch of students from the fall Human Rights Programme from universities across the US on September 21.
As the UN agency for the world of work, the ILO promotes decent work and social justice while advancing internationally recognized human and labour rights.
The visit included an interaction with Country Director Numan Özcan and ILO Nepal representatives introduced the students to the ILO’s tripartite structure and mandate, Nepal’s Decent Work Country Programme and an overview of development cooperation projects in Nepal and current key priorities.
Interactive exchanges and a Q and A session provided an opportunity for students and ILO representatives to share perspectives, ask questions and deepen their understanding of labour rights and the world of work in Nepal.
The visit was facilitated by Passage International, a Kathmandu-based study abroad programme that regularly welcomes students to Nepal as part of the Human Rights programme organized by SIT Study Abroad & World Learning in the United States.
“We value the learning exchanges, which provide students with an opportunity to connect their academic learning with practical insights into labour rights, decent work and the world of work in Nepal,” ILO Nepal.
