India Welcomes Successful Elections in Nepal

Kathmandu: India has welcomed the successful conduct of the House of Representatives elections in Nepal and congratulated the government and people of Nepal.

In a statement, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, said India welcomed the enthusiastic participation of Nepali citizens in exercising their democratic mandate.

India also congratulated Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the Government of Nepal and other stakeholders for successfully conducting the polls despite exceptional circumstances last year.

The statement noted that India provided logistical supplies for the elections at the request of the Government of Nepal as part of its continued support for peace, progress and stability in the country.

India further expressed its readiness to work with the new government of Nepal to strengthen the longstanding and multifaceted ties between the two countries for mutual benefit.
