India Wins Under-19 SAFF Women’s Championship Title in Pokhara

Kaski: India clinched the title of the Under-19 SAFF Women’s Championship by defeating defending champions Bangladesh 4–0 in the final match held at the International Football Stadium in Pokhara on February 7.

India took the lead in the first half through captain Julian Nongmethem, who scored in the 42nd minute. In the second half, Elizabeth Larka added another goal in the 63rd minute. India extended the lead when Pearl Fernandez converted a penalty in the 68th minute after a foul by the Bangladeshi goalkeeper. Anvita Raghuraman sealed the victory with a goal in the 83rd minute.

Despite Bangladesh’s defeat, Alpee Akter was named both the Best Player and Top Scorer of the tournament. Munni of India received the Best Goalkeeper award, while the Fair Play Award was also won by India.

The championship, which began on January 31, featured four teams: Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan.
