Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Tournament 2025 Concludes in Kathmandu

ICAN 11 won the final match against Embassy of India by 78 runs to secure tournament championship.

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu successfully organized the inaugural Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Tournament 2025 from May 31 to June 8 at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

According to Press Release from Embassy of India in Kathmandu, six teams participated in the friendly tournament, including the Indian Embassy, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, British Embassy, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), corporate teams, and the Indian diaspora (ICAN) in Nepal.

The final match on June 8 saw a thrilling contest between the Embassy of India and the ICAN 11. Opting to bat first, ICAN 11 made a huge score of 215/6 in 20 overs. In response, Embassy of India made 137/9 in 20 overs, resulting in ICAN 11 winning the match by 78 runs. ICAN 11 also won the tournament.

The match was followed by a trophy distribution ceremony attended by Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava, CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand, and MoFA Joint Secretary Gahendra Rajbhandari.

A closing reception in the evening was graced by Nepal’s Minister of Youth and Sports Teju Lal Chaudhary and members of Nepal’s Women’s National Cricket Team. The event celebrated sportsmanship and growing India-Nepal ties through cricket.

As part of the initiative, cricket kits were handed over to three promising U-19 Nepali players. The Embassy also announced the launch of the Ambassador’s Cricket Fellowship for Nepali Youth, offering two young cricketers the chance to train at reputed academies in India.
