Indian Embassy in Nepal Celebrates 79th Independence Day

Kathmandu: The Embassy of India in Nepal celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with participation from the Indian community in Kathmandu, friends of India, and Embassy officials.

The event commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, followed by the broadcast of President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the nation on the eve of Independence Day. In her remarks, the President reflected on the remarkable progress India has achieved over the past 78 years.

On the occasion, Ambassador Srivastava honoured the widows and next of kin of deceased personnel of the Indian Armed Forces, handing over AGIF (Army Group Insurance Funds) cheques worth NPR 6.4 crores.

The Embassy also announced a book grant for 39 educational institutions and libraries across seven provinces and 21 districts of Nepal, aimed at improving access to educational resources for students in remote areas.

The celebrations featured vibrant cultural performances on patriotic songs by students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center of the Embassy and Kendriya Vidyalaya, adding a festive spirit to the occasion.
