Kathmandu: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the people and Government of Nepal on the successful and peaceful conduct of the recent elections, describing the development as a “historic milestone” in Nepal’s democratic journey.
In a message shared on social media, Prime Minister Modi praised Nepali citizens for actively participating in the electoral process and exercising their democratic rights. He said it was heartening to see Nepali sisters and brothers participate vibrantly in the democratic exercise.
Highlighting the significance of the election, Modi said the successful conduct of the polls marks a proud moment for Nepal and reflects the strength and maturity of the country’s democratic process.
The Indian Prime Minister Modi also reaffirmed India’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with Nepal. He stated that India, as a close friend and neighbour, remains steadfast in working with the people of Nepal and its new government.
Modi said the partnership between the two countries will continue to focus on promoting shared peace, progress and prosperity in the region.
