Kathmandu: A donation of INR 2 crore has been announced for the relief and rehabilitation of victims of the recent devastating floods in Nepal during Vishwa Seva Dinam, an event held to mark the 73rd birthday of revered spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma).
The symbolic cheque was handed over by Hon’ble Vice-President of India Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan to Dr. Surendra Thapa, Chargé d’Affaires (CdA) of the Embassy of Nepal in India, in the presence of the Governor and Chief Minister of Kerala, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, including Shashi Tharoor, and other distinguished dignitaries.
The Embassy of Nepal in India expressed profound gratitude to Amma for her generous support, compassion and solidarity with the people of Nepal during this difficult time.
“Ammaji’s gesture is a touching reflection of the deep spiritual and people-to-people bonds between Nepal and India,” the Embassy of Nepal in India said.
