Interactions on Expanding Nepal–Egypt Cooperation in Trade, Investment and Tourism in Cairo

Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal in Cairo hosted an interactive program on 18 November 2025 to explore ways of expanding cooperation between Nepal and Egypt in key economic sectors, including trade, investment, and tourism.

Welcoming the participants, Sushil K. Lamsal, Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt, highlighted the promising prospects for enhanced business collaboration between the two nations. He noted that both Nepal and Egypt are youthful societies with strong growth potential, supported by abundant natural and human resources. The Ambassador emphasized the need for closer contacts between business and entrepreneurial communities of the two countries to create opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships.

Speaking at the event, Galal Maher El Ghor, Representative of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce, discussed emerging business opportunities in Egypt and expressed confidence that deeper engagement between Egyptian and Nepali entrepreneurs would energize bilateral economic exchanges. He underscored promising avenues in the tourism, energy, and chemical industries, and conveyed his readiness to collaborate with Nepali counterparts to expand two-way business relations.

From the Nepali side, Santosh Koirala, President of the Nepal Bankers’ Association, and Roshan K.C., Chairman of Machhapuchhre Bank Ltd., expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to interact with Egyptian entrepreneurs. They agreed with their Egyptian counterparts on the importance of deepening cooperation to achieve shared economic gains.

Indira Aryal, Minister-Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission, delivered a presentation outlining the potential of Nepal–Egypt bilateral economic cooperation and highlighting the opportunities available to foreign investors in Nepal’s trade, investment, and tourism sectors.

The program was attended by around 20 business representatives from various fields including banking, finance, agriculture, infrastructure, and hospitality from both Nepal and Egypt. The interaction was followed by a dinner reception.
