KATHMANDU, May 28: A two-day international seminar titled “Nepal–India Affinities: The Retrospect and the Prospect” concluded this week at Kathmandu University, bringing together over 100 scholars from Nepal and India.
The event, which was held on May 20–21, focused on strengthening Nepal–India relations through South-South academic dialogue, cultural exchange, and shared knowledge. Over 60 participants from Indian states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh attended, marking a rare academic engagement between Nepal and South India.
The seminar featured 70 academic papers on topics like climate change, gender, AI, and religion. A highlight of the event was the honoring of Prof. Dr. Lok Raj Baral with the Mrs. Helen Azariah Memorial Excellence Award for his contributions to political thought.
Organized by KU–Nepal Centre for Contemporary Studies and partners, the seminar called for continued collaboration to deepen Nepal–India ties through academic and cultural understanding.
