Kathmandu: IOM Nepal conducted a one-day Social Security Training for selected Private Recruitment Agencies (PRAs) in Kathmandu on January 29. The training strengthened PRAs’ understanding of Social Security Fund (SSF) requirements, recent labour migration policy updates, and their role in integrating social protection into recruitment practices in line with national laws.

With participation from 23 representatives (9 women and 14 men) from 12 Private Recruitment Agencies, the programme covered SSF enrolment and benefit schemes for migrant workers, legal compliance obligations, ethical recruitment practices, grievance handling mechanisms, and emerging trends in labour migration governance.
The training also provided a platform for experience sharing among PRAs on challenges, lessons learned, and practical approaches to promoting ethical, fair, and transparent recruitment, says IOM Nepal.
