Kathmandu: The Embassy of Israel in Nepal facilitated the visit of renowned trauma and emergency medicine expert Avraham Rivkind to Nepal from February 16-18 to share experience in emergency response and disaster management.
During the visit, Prof. Rivkind delivered lectures and held discussions with doctors and officials at Bir Hospital, Dhulikhel Hospital Kathmandu University Hospital, and Patan Hospital, as well as with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. He shared Israel’s best practices in trauma care, mass-casualty management, and disaster response.
Prof. Rivkind also met Acting Kathmandu Mayor Sunita Dangol and National Assembly member Anjan Shakya to discuss future medical cooperation. He proposed introducing bike-ambulances operated by trained volunteers to strengthen Nepal’s pre-hospital emergency response system.
Israel’s Ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Arie Bass said the cooperation aims to enhance medical collaboration between the two countries.
The visit also recalled Israel’s support during the 2015 Gorkha earthquake, when Israel deployed a field hospital that treated thousands of patients.
