Kathmandu: The JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN) conducted a courtesy meeting to extend welcome to the President of JICA Headquarters, Tokyo, Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, and distinguished delegation from JICA Headquarters on July 28.
During the meeting, President Dr. Tanaka appreciated JAAN’s activities and the leadership role of its members in strengthening the relationship between Nepal and Japan, emphasizing that human-to-human relations are more important than infrastructure development. He also thanked JAAN and its members for their active role in the implementation of JICA projects in Nepal. Furthermore, he assured that JICA’s cooperation would continue for development of Nepal and alumni activities in the years to come.
President Dr. Tanaka and high officials from JICA Headquarters, including Mr. Tetsuya Yamada, Director General, South Asia Department, made a short visit to Nepal to attend the opening ceremony of the Nagdhunga Tunnel. This tunnel will make travel more convenient for easy exit from and entry into the Kathmandu Valley and will bring positive economic and social impacts in the long run.
